You know, I can resent a lot of things about getting older, but this is a real treat. Lifetime free entry for me and anyone in the car to the network of US national parks. Wow. And the stark white beauty of White Sands in New Mexico seems like a terrific kickoff point for a whole new series of adventures.
So clear and clean it hurts the eye – an incredible deposit of gypsum ground down by the ceaseless winds, sculpted into dunes crisply outlined against the blue sky…even the insects, lizards, birds, and mammals lose their color to adapt and thrive here. A vast 275 square miles of beauty and the national park gift shop even has plastic round sleds for sliding! Well worth a visit – even if you do have to pay an entry fee…(Jen)
