Tales of an Urban Boxer

In search of water, we ducked into a random bodega on a corner in Brooklyn. Outside, a determined and muscular dog dragged his leash holder across the concrete sidewalk and toward the door. Hmm, what is this all about?  Should I be concerned?  As a patron left, Brutus (not his real name) powered through the door. Thrilled with his accomplishment, Brutus nearly snapped the leash and sat down in front of the deli case. Ears peaked, eyes wide, Brutus stared up.  I smiled a knowing smile. Out of the ether, a piece of ham crested the counter and landed in Brutus’ waiting maw.

Just another daily ritual in the rhythm of the neighborhood…(Andy)
