Cream and spice makes everything nice

Beale Street still has its magic, soulful tones echoing in delightful interplay along its storied pavement, yet visitors seem somewhat tentative, less ebullient, as they walk along.

Hidden above B.B. Kings Blues Club lives Itta Bena, home to “southern cuisine with a Delta twist” where the music skips between the carefully spaced tables.

There’s a subtle mastery between cream and spice that sings in the she-crab soup, and cuts through the silky penne with the bite of andouille sausage, grilled Cajun shrimp and succulent chicken. This is food that tantalizes while it soothes. A wonderful meal in a serendipitous stop.
